PLAYING THE GAME FAQ'S

How does the Game work?

Every one of our adventures has been given a Points Score based on a set of challenge factors. The more adventures you complete (add, book, or check-in to), the more points you earn and the higher up the Leaderboard you go - and closer to becoming the Earth's Number 1 Adventure Junky. This year we have great prizes for both the overall annual winner and the best adventures added each week.

How do I claim points and check-in?

There’s two basic types of adventures in the game:

Self-Guided Adventures  - being adventures you research, plan and undertake mostly or entirely of your own accord. We need to verify that you have completed these before we can award you points and patches, and often the best way is by confirming your position by GPS check-in using your mobile device. To execute a check-in press the Map Pin icon and follow the prompts. If your adventure is out of cellular range you can do an offline check-in. Just open up the app and follow the prompts. Once you get back in cellular or wifi range, the app will automatically update us that you have completed the adventure and we will award you your points and patches. We’ll send you a notification, so ensure ‘notifications’ are turned on in your mobile device.

Guided Adventures  - being organised trips by tour companies. You receive your points and patches on the day of departure of the trip automatically. We’ll send you a notification, so ensure ‘notifications’ are turned on in your mobile device.

What if I don’t receive my points?

Just let us know by emailing us for this or any other issues you have with the app.

WHAT ARE THE COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS?

Standby we are just updating these for 2017.

HOW DO I EARN POINTS BY ADDING MY PERSONAL ADVENTURES TO THE GAME?

You can submit your personal self–guided adventures, past and present for inclusion in the Game. This can be done directly through the Adventure Junky App by tapping the '+' icon or through the Add an Adventure Desktop site. If the submission is successful, your Adventure will be added to the Game, and you will will be awarded full Game Points and Morale Patches for that Adventure, as calculated from your home location. In addition, every time another Player checks-in to your Adventure, you will receive bonus Game Points. Players thinking about submitting their own Adventures are encouraged to read our FAQ's for adding adventures.

Do I have to play and compete against others to use the App?

Of course not. Many people use Adventure Junky purely as a source of inspiration and information for finding (and sharing) their next adventure, and connecting with like-minded adventurers. Adventure Junky is a fantastic research and planning tool to find your next adventure.

How do I start playing?

Download the Adventure Junky App. On it you can browse, bucket list, book, plan, share your adventures. The app will keep track of, and reward your achievements. You can rank yourself against your friends or the rest of the world. You can even add your own adventures to the game and earn bonus points.

Can I promote my business on Adventure Junky?

Yes, if you represent a destination, travel, outdoor or gear brand, we'd love to connect with you to see if we can find synergy and mutual benefit. Check out our Partnerships Page.
